RJ&L Partner, Doug Tumminello, summits Mt. Everest!

Date: 05/24/2006

On May 22, 2006, Doug Tumminello reached the top of the world by summitting Mt. Everest, elevation 29,035 feet, along with other Team No Limits climbing team members Will Cross, Julie Kay Smith and all the Sherpas.

Good weather enabled the team to reach summit after leaving Camp IV only 9½ hours earlier, putting the team at the top of the world just after dawn on Tuesday morning, May 23, 2006. The good weather also enabled the team to return quickly and safely to Camp IV approximately four hours later. After descending in the early morning hours through the icefall, Doug and his team safely returned to base camp.

Tragically, during the ascent, Team No Limits suffered the loss of two of their Sherpas, Lhakpa Tseri and Dawa Temba. These men were killed in the Khumbu Icefall by the falling of two ice seracs. Both of these men were in the prime of their life, Lhakpa Tseri Sherpa has three young children, while Dawa Temba Sherpa and his wife were expecting their first child. Their loss was keenly felt by the team. Team No Limits has erected a Memorial Foundation to care for the Sherpa families of their loved ones. This project is being spearheaded by Doug Tumminello's law partner, Lanny Anderson - of Rothgerber Johnson & Lyons LLP.
