Rothgerber Johnson & Lyons LLP is pleased to announce that partner Charles Goldberg is being honored with the prestigious Civis Princeps (First Citizen) Award by Regis University at its commencement ceremony on May 8, 2010.
The Civis Princeps Award is the highest honor Regis University has to bestow and is awarded to those few individuals who have distinguished themselves in their chosen profession and for exceptional public and community service.
Early in his career as a trial lawyer, Mr. Goldberg was appointed at age 34 to serve as a district court judge in the Denver District Court, serving nearly five years on that court. Mr. Goldberg joined RJ&L in 1978 and, along with fellow attorneys, built an ecumenical bridge among virtually all religious denominations through development of a Religious Institutions practice
Mr. Goldberg was appointed in 1999 by the Colorado Supreme Court as the first chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Colorado Attorneys' Fund for Client Protection. He is currently serving in his eleventh year as chairman.
Mr. Goldberg represents numerous religious organizations, colleges, and universities in litigation in Colorado and throughout the Unites States. He also represents plaintiffs and defendants in complex civil litigation, religious liberty issues, condemnations, professional and products liability, personal injury lawsuits, securities arbitrations, and will contests. Mr. Goldberg received his Juris Doctor from the University of Denver College of Law and graduated from the University of Colorado.
