Michael Plachy Named To "Lawyers Of The Year" By Law Week Colorado

Rothgerber Johnson & Lyons LLP is pleased to announce that Michael D. Plachy, a partner with the firm, was honored as one of the "Lawyers of the Year" by Law Week Colorado for his legal achievements in 2008.

In 2008, Mike prevailed in two highly-publicized and important trials. In the first, Mike successfully represented the City of Denver in the lawsuit brought by the ACLU regarding First Amendment rights of protestors in conjunction with the Democratic National Convention. In the second, Mike prevailed in a campaign finance action brought against Governor Bill Ritter's Inaugural Committee.

Mike acted as legal counsel to Governor Ritter and Congressman Ed Perlmutter on election and campaign finance issues. He did all of this while acting as a leader in the community, as a member of the Colorado Commission on Higher Education and the 18th District Judicial nominating commission, and a leader within our firm. To top it off, Mike is a dedicated husband and father to three young daughters.

Mike represents companies in civil lawsuits involving significant financial or reputational exposure. He has tried many complex commercial, real estate, construction, product liability class action, and anti-trust cases. Mike regularly advises businesses concerning corporate governance, risk management, and strategic planning issues, and also represents and advises numerous elected officials on election and campaign finance issues.

Mike is a 1988 graduate of the University of Colorado, and received his Juris Doctor in 1992 from the University of Colorado School of Law.
