The challenge for educational institutions in the twenty-first century will be to synthesize the best of the past with the opportunities and technology of the future. Our Education Law practice group has been assisting schools -- both in higher education and K-12 -- manage this challenge.

Our firm has experience representing schools in a variety of areas, including school financing, taxation, dispute resolution, special education, charitable giving, religion in the classroom, freedom of expression, employee benefits, intellectual property, labor negotiations and disputes, contracts, real estate, and litigation. In addition, we have extensive experience with every aspect of charter schools, including, advising on school contract disputes and appeals, and working with educational management companies.

Our attorneys have been active in representing charter schools, as well as assisting public and private colleges and universities in Colorado and elsewhere. We have advised and represented schools regarding issues dealing with Title VII civil rights, Title IX equal opportunity, Colorado scholarship programs, tax-exempt bond financing, lobbying and political activities, union negotiations, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the Federal Rehabilitation Act, and 42 U.S.C. § 1983 litigation. We serve our educational institution clients as advocates and as counselors to boards and administrators.

Our attorneys actively support various educational institutions as trustees, board members, advisory board members, and faculty, including the University of Denver, the University of Colorado, Colorado State University, the University of Northern Colorado, Regis University, Coe College, and the University of South Dakota Foundation.
