The firm has a long legacy of pro bono representation and continues to develop relationships with local and national pro bono organizations that offer training, stand-up time, and the opportunity to provide meaningful assistance to the indigent in our community. Attorneys at the firm support and are involved on cases with the Colorado Lawyers' Committee and Metro Volunteer Lawyers. At the national level, the firm is a member of the Law Firm Pro Bono Project, which is a project of the Pro Bono Institute in cooperation with the American Bar Association Fund for Justice and Education Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service. In addition to working with these organizations, the firm encourages attorneys to provide pro bono services on an individual basis, under certain circumstances.
The nature of the pro bono services we provide varies dramatically based on the individual interests of our attorneys. For example, our pro bono representation ranges from making arguments before the Colorado Supreme Court on issues related to public education to assisting a client in state court on a contractual dispute. Our attorneys have also assumed responsibility for administering the Faculty of Federal Advocates Bankruptcy Pro Bono Program. This program provides representation of indigent debtors in discharge and dischargeability actions in bankruptcy court. Rothgerber Johnson & Lyons does not handle any family law cases.
In addition to providing pro bono representation to the indigent, the firm maintains a steady and visible presence in the community. We provide substantial financial and legal support to numerous community organizations throughout the Rocky Mountain West.
